This Former UCLA Gymnast Talks About Her Identity as an Athlete After Graduation


Competitive gymnast and lifelong athlete JaNay Honest admittedly felt lost after graduating from UCLA. As a National Championship gymnast, JaNay was used to grinding, being active, and constantly pushing herself. “Gymnastics was all I knew,” she says. “The week of graduation, I broke down. I was scared, I was nervous, I was anxious; and it all hit me at once.”

But despite the unknown, JaNay has challenged herself to push through and step out of her comfort zone. As a result, she’s been able to fine-tune another passion of hers — dance.
